Summary: Kyuhyun has developed a different addiction and Donghae wants to know what it is. But Kyuhyun hasn't told him. He hasn't told anyone for that matter. He has been sneaking out late at night and staying out until the wee hours. Only one other person knows and that is the person who introduced him to it. This new addiction is dangerous but Kyuhyun doesn't care. As long as he gets his fix he could care less. But this new addiction will cause the lives of Super Junior to change, some more than others.
Kyuhyun and the rest of the members left the kitchen and went into the living room to watch a movie before everyone went to their dorms.
Donghae was coming out of the bathroom just as Heechul was going to use it. Donghae turned to the side to let Heechul pass, when he thought of something, “Hyung?” Heechul paused and turned back to Donghae.
“Yes Donghae?”
Donghae looked back to the main room and saw that they could be seen, so Donghae pushed Heechul into the bathroom and closed to door. He leaned up against the door, so if anyone tried to come in, he would be in the way.
Heechul looked to his dongsaeng with a raised brow and folded his arms across his chest. “Donghae, I don’t swing this way.”
Donghae crunched his brows together. He looked to his hyung, trying to figure out what he meant, until he noticed the little glint in his eyes and the way his head cocked to the side. He chuckled, “No, no, I just need to talk to you in private.” He paused, “You would for Hangeng…….or Siwon.”
Heechul uncrossed his arms and leaned up against the sink, “That’s different.”
“How? I’m just as good looking as they are.”
“Donghae,”
“I may be short, but I’m cute, lovable,”
“Donghae,”
“And I’ve got an awesome body.”
“Donghae!” Heechul shouted.
Donghae snapped his shut.
“Either start talking…about what you want or I’m going to kick you out. I’ve got to use the bathroom, so make it quick.”
“Hyung, I need to ask you something and I wouldn’t ask this of you if I didn’t know that you could do it.”
Heechul smirked and placed one of his hands over his heart, “Donghae, I’m touched.” He said in a sing song voice.
Donghae rolled his eyes. To be honest, he knew of one or two other of his hyungs could do this, but Heechul was the one that he knew if he was caught sneaking out, then he would just snap at whoever had caught them, saying that it was none of their business and keep going. This is why he went to Heechul. He needed someone to follow Kyuhyun and Heechul was just the person to so it…and get away with it.
“Hyung, I need you to follow Kyuhyun for me.”
Heechul scoffed. Why would he need to follow him? He actually had a life and Kyuhyun never did anything. So what would following him be anything that he needed to do? Maybe Donghae thought Kyuhyun was possessed by an alien…again. Donghae was known for thinking that. He had, at one point, thought that each of the members were possessed by aliens. This was after he had watched and alien movie with Eunhyuk. Or maybe he thought he was doing drugs again. He, along with the other members, had heard about Donghae chasing Kyuhyun around the dorm trying to get a urine sample from the maknae. Heechul had never laughed so hard in his life. He would have loved to have been there to see that.
“Why?”
Donghae sighed. He wasn’t sure if Heechul might be the right person for this. Yeah, he was stealthy and snarky enough for the job, but he was also kinda known for blabbing gossip that was simply juicy and he was worried that he would tell others about Donghae’s hunch and therefore, warning Kyuhyun what Donghae was up to. But he was not going to chicken out now. He needed his help.
“I know Kyuhyun is hiding something. But I don’t know what. He’s been sneaking out at night, staying out late. Every time I try to talk to him about it, he says its nothing. And I don’t know who else to turn to. I need someone that will follow him and be stealth about it and who will also not let anyone know that he’s following Kyuhyun. And I need for that person to keep whatever they find to themselves…well, after they tell me.” Donghae seemed to have been able to get all that out in one breath, so it was rather rushed.
Heechul just stared at Donghae with wide eyes. He had only thought that Leeteuk was able to talk that fast and not stumble over his words. Since he was used to hearing such rushed talking, he had no problem understanding all what Donghae had said.
Heechul looked at the floor for a moment before he nodded.
“Okay.”
“Hyung! I’m serious I really think that Kyuhyun i…” Donghae paused. Did he hear correctly? Heechul had agreed to follow Kyuhyun without giving a smart ass remark or laughing in his face and throwing him out? He NEVER did that! To get Heechul to do something that wasn’t for his benefit you had to practically saw off an arm and a leg.
“What did you say?” Donghae asked, just to make sure he heard right.
Heechul rolled his eyes. “Yes, I agreed to do you a favor. Is that so hard to believe?”
Yes.
“Um…o-okay then.” Donghae stuttered, “Well, Kyuhyun disappeared again earlier today, so I think that he’ll be sneaking out tonight.” Every time Kyuhyun sneaked off during the day, Kyuhyun would end up sneaking off that night, that Donghae had noticed over the past few weeks.. “He usually goes out between one and two in the morning.” He paused, “Is that too late for you?” He suddenly remembered how Heechul liked his beauty sleep. He said it keeps his skin looking beautiful and glowing. And Heechul prided himself on his looks.
“No,” he said opening the door to kick Donghae out, “You owe me.” And he shut the door.
Of course! Heechul was going to want something in return. THAT’S why he agreed to this. He wanted something from Donghae. But, Donghae would worry about that later. He got someone to follow Kyuhyun and he was happy about that. He was finally going to find out what he has been up to.
Kyuhyun had the covers pulled up to his chin, his arms resting on him chest, and his phone in one of his hands. Every few minutes, or what seemed like an hour – maybe cause he was wishing time would speed up somehow- he pulled his phone out and checked to see the time. He sent curses at it and at Father Time when he would look and see that it had only been a minute since the last time he looked at it.
He looked over at the other side of the room and saw that Donghae’s back was to him. Kyuhyun heard his slow breathing, telling him that he was asleep. Tonight was the first night that Kyuhyun had ‘went to bed’ and it seemed that Donghae was able to sleep because of that. When they had first gone to bed, Kyuhyun noticed that Donghae would look up every so often and glance in Kyuhyun’s direction, pretending that he heard something and was checking to see what it was. After about an hour, Donghae gave up of catching Kyuhyun sneaking off and decided to sleep.
It was two in the morning and they still hadn’t contacted him yet. He was starting to get antsy. He drummed his fingers on his phone and chest, wiggled his feet from side to side, he resisted the urge to toss and turn. Kyuhyun even started to feel sweat begin to glisten his forehead.
He felt his phone vibrate in his hands and he nearly screamed his head off and jumped to the ceiling. Calming his nerves, Kyuhyun pulled his head under the covers – lest the light was too bright and it woke Donghae up – and sighed when he read that it was time.
Kyuhyun carefully untangled himself from the many covers that were wrapped around him – he wasn’t able to stop himself completely from tossing and turning – and got off of the bed. Keeping his eyes on his roommate, Kyuhyun tip toed to the door and opened it slowly, the door tended to creek on occasions. Kyuhyun walked out into the main room and quietly pulled on his jacket and pulled on his shoes. Looking down the hallway to see it he was clear, he slipped out the door and closed it behind him with a soft click and headed to the elevator.
Donghae opened his eyes when he heard the door to the room close. He quickly sat up and pulled his phone from the bedside table and typed a message with shaky fingers. He was so close to finding out what Kyuhyun has been up to for the past few weeks and he was more than giddy. He was starting to feel like a little kid staying up till midnight, waiting for Santa to bring him Christmas presents.
Kyuhyun is leaving, be ready
Not a moment later, he heard the front door open and close at the same time he got a reply from Heechul.
K. I’m leaving now
Realizing just how much of a favor Heechul was doing for him, Donghae typed a quick thank you.
Yah! Go to bed!
Donghae chuckled to himself. Even though Donghae had asked him to follow Kyuhyun, missing out on his beauty rest, he still managed to be his demanding older self. And he showed that he cared.
Knowing that soon Heechul would have an answer for him, Donghae couldn’t calm his nerves. There was no way that he was going to be able to sleep. So Donghae got up and went into the main room and turned the TV on. He was going to wait for Heechul to tell him what Kyuhyun has been doing.
Sighing, Heechul stepped out of his room and all but ran to the door. He had to be sure that he made it down to the first floor before Kyuhyun could have a chance to get too far for him to follow. Heechul had just pulled his shoes on and had his hand on the door knob when Shindong came out of his room, rubbing his eyes.
“Hyung,” he yawned, “Where are you going?”
Heechul didn’t even look back to his questioning dongsaeng. “None of your business.” And he closed the door and ran for the elevators. He noticed the light on one of the elevators was lit up, so he quickly pressed the button for the other one and stood there tapping his foot impatiently, waiting for the damn thing to arrive.
A second after Heechul pushed the button, but it felt like it had been minutes since he pushed the damn thing, the doors opened and he got in and pushed the button for the first floor. His heart pounded in his chest as he watched the doors close then as the numbers above the door lit up as each of the floors were passed.
5…4…3…2…
Damn! Hurry up! Heechul thought to himself. Yeah, he was the one that was sent out and he was not the one that was worried about what Kyuhyun was doing, but just the fact that he was following someone, someone who could be well away from the building now while he was waiting for the elevator to reach the first floor, had his blood pounding through his body and he was in a hurry to get what he was doing over with and get back to the comfortable warmth of his bed.
…1.
The elevator doors opened with a ding, and Heechul saw Kyuhyun’s retreating figure going out the door.
Shit! Heechul ran as fast as he could to keep a good eye on where Kyuhyun was going. Heechul slammed into the door just as it was about to close, cursing as the handle dug into his side, and saw that Kyuhyun was in the parking lot.
Heechul stayed where he was his side throbbing and kept a good distance from him and the man he was following, waiting to see Kyuhyun make his next move. He watched as Kyuhyun headed to the street that was in front of their building. Heechul began to walk in his direction. Good thing Heechul had grabbed his hat and jacket, or else he was sure that his yellow hair would stand out in the darkness of the night, no matter how many lights were on around them. Heechul slipped his hat on over his head and then zipped up his jacket, pulling the hood over his hat as well.
Kyuhyun got into a cab and Heechul cursed to himself. There was no way he was going to be able to follow him if Kyuhyun was mobile and on wheels. But, luck seemed to be on his side as another cab was pulling up to the street just as Kyuhyun was driven off in his. The cab stopped right in front of Heechul had he gladly opened the door.
“Follow that cab!” Heechul shouted to the driver pointing to the other vehicle that was pulling up to the stop light that was just down the street. He mentally slapped himself for sounding so clichéd. That line was used in so many shows and movies.
The cab driver nodded and followed the car that Heechul had pointed to. Again, Heechul’s luck seemed to be with him that night, because his cab pulled up right behind Kyuhyun’s when the light turned green, giving them no chance of getting to far away.
They were driving behind the other car for about three minutes before Heechul tapped the guy on the shoulder.
“Hey, keep a good distance from them. I don’t want it to look like we’re following them.”
Again, the cab driver nodded and took his foot off of the gas a little, putting some space between him and the other car. Heechul sighed. He was expecting the driver to suddenly ask why he was following someone. But, Heechul guessed that he really didn’t care. As long as he got the money, he would drive Heechul anywhere and follow anyone he chose.
Suddenly panicking, Heechul pulled out what money he had in his pocket and looked at the meter. He hopped that where Kyuhyun was going, wasn’t very far. He only had so much and if he had to get out of the cab before he got to his destination, or used up all of his money, he was going to call Donghae to come and get him, no matter where he was then make him pay, in money and in blood. He wasn’t going to miss out on his precious sleep and not get what he wanted.
They drove for ten more minutes before Heechul looked out his window and saw that they were headed for the slums of the city. That part of the city that was just rundown apartment complexes and factories. The place was basically deserted. His eyes immediately shot to the front of the car and saw that they were still following the cab that Kyuhyun was in.
What is Kyuhyun doing in this part of town?
“Hey, turn off your lights.” Heechul told the driver and he complied again, after he hesitated for a moment. Turning off your lights in this part of town might not be the best thing, but it was what Heechul wanted and he was paying. Now that they weren’t in any good part of the city with cars and lights, someone following behind a car with their lights on kinda stood out like a sore thumb.
Five more minutes and Heechul could tell they were in the heart of the slums. There was not a soul in any of the apartments that were around. No lights were on in them or on in the factories. Looking up at them, Heechul could see the windows were boarded up and some of them were missing their doors. He was starting to worry what Kyuhyun was up to and was starting to think Donghae was right to worry. No one ever came to this part of town anymore, and for good reasons.
If anyone was in that part of town, they were either homeless looking for a place to stay, drug dealers and doers. Whoever came to this part of town was defiantly up to no good.
Heechul saw the car in front of them turn a corner, slowly. Heechul was sure that it was going to stop.
“Stop here.” Heechul looked at the meter and saw that he had enough money to pay the guy and had just enough to get back to the dorms, but just barely. He was going to make Donghae pay him back, every cent.
Heechul threw the money over the seat and got out of the car, making sure to close the door quietly. The car pulled away and went back the way they had come. He took one look around where he was and shuddered.
I take it back. Donghae will not just pay, he will pay expenses too. He was not going to walk around the slums and not get something out of it. Whether it’s with money or a new outfit, he was going to get payment for this.
Straightening his back, Heechul ran down the street and saw Kyuhyun’s cab pull away. He briefly panicked, thinking Kyuhyun was still inside, but he sighed when he saw the maknae walking further down the street, turning another corner. Heechul pressed his body up against the side of the building and peaked around the corner Kyuhyun had disappeared from.
Kyuhyun ran across the street and immediately turned a corner. Heechul ran to catch up but froze in his tracks when he saw other people walk towards the very place Kyuhyun was headed to. But the people didn’t look like the homeless type to Heechul, which he thought would be the case. These people looked like city people. Some looked like him and Kyuhyun, normal average men and women. Others looked like bikers, business owners, school teachers (in fact, Heechul thought he saw someone that looked like his elementary teacher). They were also of different ages. Some looked to be Kyuhyun’s age, some younger. Others looked like they could be Heechul’s grandfather. But they were all headed for the same place.
Amongst all the people, Heechul was able to spot Kyuhyun’s frame and he pushed past all the people that were starting to crowd around and forced himself to keep his eyes on Kyuhyun. This was slowly starting to become something more than just following Kyuhyun for Donghae. Heechul was starting to worry for his dongsaeng and he was wondering what he could possibly be doing in this part of town.
The further Heechul walked into the crowd, the more people there seemed to be and Heechul lost Kyuhyun. There had to be at least two hundred people there. And he saw that they all were huddled around something in the center of the mass of people.
Heechul looked over to the side and saw an empty stoop on one of the apartment buildings and he ran to see if he could get a better look at what was in the center of all the people. Just as Heechul jumped up and looked in the direction of the big group of people, he heard the roar of two cars and then the screams and cheers of everyone around him. In the middle of the street there were two, what seemed to be, red Italian sports cars. There were two people in them, one in each, and they were enticing the people around them further with each slam of the gas pedal they did.
Heechul’s eyes widened. Street racing. That’s what Kyuhyun has been sneaking out for. Just as that thought entered his mind, more people began to follow Heechul’s example and climbed the buildings and watch from a better view point. Some had even joined Heechul in where he was standing. Heechul had a feeling that the race was about to start, the people that were huddled around the front of the cars stepped back, giving a pathway down the street.
Off to the side of the street, Heechul saw someone walking around yelling for bets. He had a wad of cash in his hands and he was holding up tickets. There were people running up to him, giving him money then taking a ticket and running back to get a spot before the race started. All betting and talking was halted as a lengthy woman stepped out in the street with a cloth in her hands. She stood in between the cars and held her hand up high with the piece of material in her hands. The street took on an eerie silence as everyone waited for her to drop the cloth.
Deciding that she had the attention of everyone around and the drivers, she let the material slip through her fingers and the driver slammed on the gas, tires screaming, and sped past the woman and raced down the street. There was an uproar of screams, yells of ‘go go go,’ whistles, and the screeching of rubber against asphalt as the cars sped down the empty road.
Heechul squinted his eyes just as the cars spun around a corner and he heard them speeding back to them from the other side of the building he was standing in front of. As the roar of the cars engines became louder, so did the crowd around him. And soon another screech was heard followed by another (Heechul assumed that the second screech was from the loosing car). Not a moment later, there was a red sports cars spinning around the corner, making everyone that was still in the street to jump to the safety of the side walk as the winner of the race slammed on his brakes and stopped where he had started, smoke billowing from the tires and flowing up to the sky. Soon the other car came around the corner. But, just as he tried to slow his car, he seemed to lose control of the wheel and he skidded to the side of the street then he fishtailed around, flipped to its side and then crashed into the side of the nearest building, effectively stopping his car.
Heechul and the others around him flinched at the sound of breaking glass, metal, and brick. It was silent before the people closest to the crash ran to the car and tried to pull the driver out. There were shouts and cruses as they tried to get to the driver’s side of the car, but that side was the side that crashed into the building, blocking any form of access to him. But the people acted quickly and pulled the driver out from the passenger side. From where Heechul was, he could see that the man was limp in the arms of the person who pulled him out.
Shit! Kyuhyun is involved in this! This was the reason Kyuhyun was sneaking out at night. He found some thrill in this.
Once the man was pulled out, Heechul saw people running up to the man that was taking bets earlier, seeming to not care whether the other man was okay or not, and collected their money. The other driver got out of the car with a smug look on his face. He didn’t care either!
Heechul turned his attention back to the chaos going on down the road and saw the other driver standing on his own. There were sighs, from the ones that cared, and then people rushing him into a car. Heechul guessed that he would be taken to the hospital.
Once the man was in a car and was headed back to town, the same lengthy woman walked back onto the street and yelled, “Bring out another one!”
Another what?
His question was answered when he heard another sports car coming down the street. A replacement. Cheers erupted around him. It seemed that the show must go on. Not even a crash and almost possible death was going to stop this crowd.
Heechul was becoming disgusted with this crowd and was about to call a cab to come and pick him up, when he saw Kyuhyun step forward. His heart stopped. Kyuhyun was going to race. Heechul was hoping that Kyuhyun was just going to be a spectator and not fully participate in the racing. But by the sounds of the crowd, cheering, whistling, and chanting his name, it seemed that this was not going to be his first race. He had done this before. Heechul’s heart fell at this realization.
Heechul stayed where he was and watched as his dongsaeng got into the car that was recently brought out. The people closest to him, gave him pats on the back and encouraging words even one girl went as far as to give him a kiss on the cheek. Just as Kyuhyun closed his door, Heechul saw the man that had won the last race get back into the car he had used earlier. Again, there were bets being taken. And Heechul could hear who everyone was betting on to win: Kyuhyun. And from what he could hear from the talk around him, Kyuhyun was defiantly the racer to beat. Apparently, he was undefeated.
Heechul stood back and watched as the woman walked in between the cars again and raised the same cloth again in the air. Heechul’s heart began to beat rapidly the longer she held that flag up, and he was suddenly wishing that she would step away, not letting the flag drop and Kyuhyun would get out of the car. Heechul’s heart stopped when she let it go and the cars sped down the street. The cheers seemed to be louder to Heechul this time. Maybe it was because Kyuhyun seemed to be their favorite or because suddenly he was worried for his dongsaeng, wondering if he was going to have the same fate as the other man had had.
Heechul’s heart leapt in his chest when he heard the first screech and then leapt again when he heard the next, each time Heechul thought that was signaling the beginning of the next crash. But Heechul never heard a crash and he turned to face the other end of the street, waiting to see the cars come from the other side.
It seemed like an eternity to him; he had bitten his nails down to the skin, while he waited for that next screech, then the other, then the sight of a car rounding the corner safely and speeding to where the race had started, just like the other racers had. His heart seemed to settle back to its regular speed when he saw that it was Kyuhyun’s car that had rounded the corner first and safely.
Cheers erupted from the crowd and some had even jumped up and down as Kyuhyun got out of his car. Not a moment after he stepped out, the other car spun around the corner. But unlike the prier race, there had not been a crash and he stopped right behind Kyuhyun. Again, bets were collected.
Donghae slowly opened his eyes when he felt a vibration coming from the side of his head. Groaning, Donghae reached over and felt around for what was causing the vibrations. His fingers touched the slick side of his phone and he jerked up, suddenly wide awake, realizing where he was and who would be calling him.
He didn’t bother to look at the caller ID.
“Hyung!” He shouted.
“Yah! Keep your voice down!” Heechul yelled on his end, causing Donghae to flinch and pull his phone away from his ear.
“Sorry, I forgot.” Donghae whispered this time.
“Aish!”
“So, did you find out what Kyuhyun’s has been doing?” Donghae asked, stepping out into the hall so he couldn’t be heard by the others inside.
“Yah! When I get home, you own me big! I missed out on an entire night’s sleep because you couldn’t follow Kyuhyun yourself!”
Donghae furrowed his brow. An entire night’s sleep? Donghae pulled his phone away from his ear and looked at the clock. The time read, 6:48 am. Shit! It had been an entire night. By the time Heechul got home, he was going to be lucky if he got an hour of sleep. Donghae flinched at the thought. He was going to be a PMSing bitch later on that day. And Donghae knew he was going to take it all out on him. It was going to be a long day.
“So, did you find out what Kyuhyun’s been going?” He asked again.
It was silent on Heechul’s end of the line.
“Hyung?” Donghae was afraid of how bad it could be to make Heechul be hesitant.
Heechul sighed, “Its street racing.”
Donghae stayed silent. It’s what? Of all the things Donghae thought it could be, street racing was defiantly not one of them. Then again, Donghae was kinda going into the extremes.
Before Donghae could say anything, Heechul spoke,
“He’s racing illegally and from what I could tell, he’s been doing this for a while now,” he paused, “How long did you say you thought he was sneaking out?”
“Um…three weeks.” Donghae said weakly.
“Well, he must be a natural born racer then. He raced most of the races and he won every single one of them.”
Donghae still couldn’t speak. He just couldn’t wrap his mind around this. He was prepared for it to be drugs, the black-market, the mafia, and at one point Donghae thought it was prostitution, but street racing?
“The time I was there, there had been eight wrecks. Seven of them, the driver was up and walking but taken to the hospital. One of them died before they could get him out of the car.”
Donghae’s blood froze in his veins. Someone had died doing what Kyuhyun was doing and yet he was still participating? And for as long as he has been sneaking out, Donghae was sure that there was more than just that one death that has happened. This was dangerous and Kyuhyun could possibly die from it. And if not, which Donghae was suddenly prying that that would never be the case, he could get caught and sent to jail.
Donghae was sure that Kyuhyun would know that much, he was a smart kid…aside from him actually racing. But even if he did know this, he was racing knowing the risks and yet he was taking them. The consequences from this could hurt Kyuhyun’s career, his reputation, and maybe even his life. But it seemed Kyuhyun didn’t care about any of those things.
“How far are you from here?” Donghae asked.
“About ten minutes.”
Donghae chewed on his bottom lip, “Did Kyuhyun see you?”
Heechul scoffed, “Yah, I know how to keep hidden. I left just as Kyuhyun finished his last race of the night. So he should be home soon after me.” And Heechul hung up at that.
A/N: HIS ADDICTION IS REVEALED!! All of those who thought it was street racing, you were right! Although, I don’t really think that is something that would make me happy, Kyuhyun street racing. I mean, it could be worse, but it is still dangerous. And, now for the informal part of this chapter,
The dangers of street racing http://www.webspawner.com/users/justinda
This chapter is this long because I didn’t know if I could cut it and you still get the whole effect. And this is my favorite chapter of this story. My muse was kind enough to give me this late one night a few weeks ago ^^ THANK YOU MUSE!!!!!
And a heads up: There is a part two after this, obviously (Part One, duh). But I realized the other day that it will probably be like two chapters. I just miiiiight be able to stretch it to be three, but I’m not sure. I think that if I do that, then it will sound really crappy. But I’ll see how it goes when I get to writing it.
As always, comment please. Comments always my me smile
PS: I apologize if there are spelling mistakes. I can never catch all of them, no matter how many times I go over it.

This is very, very bad. If Kyu is racing that much then it's a foregone conclusion that at some point he *will* have an accident. This craziness needs to stop before he ends up dead or in jail. Dang Kibum for ever getting him started in this.
and I hadn't realized that it had been a year, and now I feel bad ;~;
but I'm glad you liked this ^^
